Reactivating the Mogoi Wasian Oil Fields: First Steps and Future Prospects

Diakrino Corporation, in partnership with PPMW (Indonesia), is embarking on the ambitious project of reactivating the Mogoi Wasian oil fields, located in the Bintuni Regency of West Papua, Indonesia. These historic oil fields, first discovered and exploited by Dutch companies in the mid-20th century, has significant potential to contribute to Indonesia’s energy sector once more.

The initial phase of reactivation focuses on cleaning and renovating the site and equipment, which is crucial for ensuring operational safety and efficiency. This meticulous process involves removing debris, inspecting and refurbishing infrastructure, and upgrading equipment to modern standards. Our Technical Director, George Lattimore, has recently visited the site to oversee and coordinate these efforts, working closely with the local team to carry out the necessary tasks.

Mogoi Wasian’s strategic importance is underscored by its historical productivity and the recent commitment of our partners, including PT Pertamina EP and Jaya Samudra Karunia Group, to develop both upstream and downstream operations. This collaboration is projected to boost oil and gas output, with an ambitious target of producing 1 million barrels of crude oil (2740 BOPD) and around 146 thousand barrels of condensate annually for the next 10 years. Additionally, the field aims to generate 80 MMSCFD of gas and 0.5 MMTPA (million tons) of LNG per year, supporting local industrial growth and energy sustainability (Home, D-Insights) (Indonesian Petroleum Association) (Jaga Melanesia).

The reactivation of Mogoi Wasian is more than just an industrial endeavor; it represents a significant economic opportunity for the local community and Indonesia at large. The project is expected to create jobs, stimulate local businesses, and contribute to regional development. Moreover, the increased energy production will support Indonesia’s broader economic goals, providing a stable and sustainable energy supply to meet growing demands.

In summary, the reactivation of the Mogoi Wasian oil field by Diakrino Corporation and its partners is a meticulously planned and executed project, aimed at revitalizing a historic energy resource with modern technology and strategic collaboration. This project is set to play a pivotal role in Indonesia’s energy landscape, promising economic growth and energy security for the future.
